The task was to have a thoughtful discussion about what we had learned in the class previously about our early human ancestors, and a discussion point that we wanted to talk about. Not everyone's points were brought up during the discussion, because we only had 12 minutes for each point. It was very effective and I gained a lot of understanding from my peers' perspectives.
This definitely demonstrates communication skills. I had outlined beforehand that I wanted to work on understanding my peers' points of view when they contradicted mine. I did not do that during our conversations and because of this I furthered my skills.
I am most proud of my follow up questions that I had in response to others points. I was really trying to further my understanding of the subject and their point of view. The most difficult part of this task for me was being able to interject in the conversation. I wanted to bring up points but at times I was unable to get a word in. I think for our next socratic seminar this is what I want to work on. I would improve this work by talking more and bringing up more questions to further my understanding.
