What are you most proud of from this assignment, and why?
I am most proud of my ability to understand how a computer thinks. This unit focuses on functions like if, else and max. This helps you understand how literally a computer works and how you can use that to your advantage. I used these different functions to produce different results and different processes.
Which 21st Century Skills do you feel this assignment addresses, and why?
This assignment definitely addresses informational skills and also interpersonal skills. In this assignment we are learning how to code in python. This helps me understand how computers think in a variety of apps, websites etc. It can seem frustrating at times working with a confusing interface but these lessons have helped me think about what the computer is doing. While this assignment was not a group activity. Oftentimes I would need help from my friends to look at my code. Sometimes a different perspective and a fresh set of eyes was just what I needed to complete the assignment.
How did you develop and/or improve upon your 21st Century Skills with this assignment?
I developed upon my informational skills with this assignment by learning more about python and coding in general. This class has improved my thought processing skills when it comes to computers. At the same time I developed my interpersonal skills. Talking with my friends about what we did wrong and why we made mistakes furthered my understanding of python.
What was most difficult about completing this task?
The most difficult part about coding in general is debugging your code. Sometimes you will forget a small rule and it will not run anything. This is very frustrating as it is often a very minute mistake. This is where it is helpful to have a friend look over your code.
How could you improve this work? If you could start over, what would you do differently?
I could improve my work by making my code less complex. Sometimes I will write my code in a very long roundabout way. Some of my assignments could definitely be shorter. If I were to start over I would try to make sure that I checked for small errors as I was writing.
How does this relate to what you have learned in the past?
This relates to the python assignments that I had done previously. We had worked with different coding platforms. All coding platforms are different but many of them build off of python. This related to the many scratch assignments that I had in the past.
How can you apply this to future learning?
I can apply the skills I learned in python to all different coding platforms. If I were ever interested in pursuing a career in software development my understanding of python gives me a head start. The process of learning in python is applicable to many different areas of life. It is very literal and logical which will help me in math and similar subjects.
