We had to research a work exchange program in a Latin country. Then we had to present the details of our program and country in Spanish. I think this demonstrates global awareness skills because we chose to research a yoga teacher in a program in Colombia. We had no idea why people chose this place specifically to learn yoga or what place yoga has in Colombia. Through our research we learned why people go to this country for this specific purpose.
I am most proud of my presentation skills in Spanish. I spoke fluently and gave my peers a recap of what I had said. I did not stumble on my words and spoke very clearly.
I improved on my speaking skills by challenging myself with another language. It takes more effort to speak concisely and to do so in a way that people can understand.
The most difficult part about this task is writing the information in Spanish. We could use google translate, but you had to write the information in the ways that we had learned thus far. We hadn’t learned things like past tense or reflexive verbs so we couldn’t use that at the time. I learned a lot of unique Spanish words from doing this project.
If I were to improve this work I would make the slides more interesting and have more information about Colombia's attractions and people. If I could start over that's one of the things that I would make sure to focus more on. This relates to the Spanish 1 assignments that I had done and all the work that I had done in Spanish 2. I can apply this to future Spanish presentations in my presenting style and information delivery. I want to make my next Spanish presentations more interesting as well as more understandable.
